PROCLAIM - 2011
Proclaim is the sophmore album for the band. It is a compilation of songs inspired by their daily walk. The name proclaim has become a calling card for the band. Proclaim the message. Stand and shout it.
Track Information
1. Apple & A Tree - Sometimes the truth we seek can feel like a target placed on our head.
2. Draw Me A Picture - This song came from a scribble in a lyric book, “Drew a Picture at Drew’s house.” Basically a thought about a great time playing music at Andrew’s house where we rehearse. This song is a thank you note from the band to all who support us and therefore allow us to recording and performing music.
3. Even If I Knew Before - Most people do not get to a point in their life where everything has turned out exactly the way we have planned growing up. Maybe happiness comes not from checking off a checklist. Maybe the most exciting road to travel isn’t a straight one. That the destination that we arrive at can be way more beautiful than the one we highlighted on a map before we began the journey (of course, you only get this if you traveled before GPS).
4. Lately - Sometimes we watch our kids throw tantrums, stomp their feet and hold their breath when they aren’t getting their way. I wonder if we look the same way to God sometimes.
5. Next Time - This song is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a sub-moto for the band. Quit talking about tomorrow and try to make change today.v
6. Plastic Crown - The inspiration for Plastic Crown came after listening to the Radio Head song, Fake Plastic Trees. We got to thinking about ego and representing yourself in a way where you're blowing smoke in peoples eyes in order to make them think you’re something that you’re not. This song has nothing to do with the Radiohead song, but ‘fake plastic’ is a little absurd and maybe redundant, but so is the notion that it is describing.
7. Proclaim - Proclaim is the theme song of the band. It’s a song about acting on the call given to each of us.
8. Reach - This song is about Doubting Thomas. It’s about finding yourself at that point of desperation and questioning where the only answer is to reach out to God for help.
9. Steal Me Away - This song could probably be called You Took Me Back part ii. We love this song. A simple lyric that reaches an emotion of the gratefulness for mercy.
10. You Took Me Back - This song is a about a familiar situation most of us have been in where we hesitate admitting our failings for fear that perhaps our pride might be on the line.
