 Drums
Dad always preached God first, family second, all else comes after that.
We focused a lot of time on the first two growing up, but a close third
would be music. Music was always present in the house; from records or
radio always playing, to Dad directing the choir at church, to my parents’
support of all 7 of us kids learning piano. I think I hold the record for
the shortest stint with piano lessons at roughly 8 months. My interest in
playing the drums began when my older brother, Jon, started playing.
It wasn't until a few years later, the summer between 6th and 7th grade,
did I ask him to start tutoring me. So grateful that I did. Outside of music,
I prefer spending lots of time with my wife and our children. For now, the
little ones want to play drums like Daddy, but we'll see what God has in store for them.
